Today let’s go to Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia to discover a new, responsible and solidarity project. A fresh initiative of the European Foundation for Cambodian Children!

Everything started in 2014 when Mr. Jean-Michel Fournier and Mr. Graham Moir created EFCC. Both convinced that Cambodia’s rebuilding can be achieved by educating the younger generation, they decided to take up this challenge which is to launch a NGO.

Few years later, they welcome 63 children who come from extremely poor villages of Phnom Penh and give them access to quality education, medical care and a healthy diet. Here at EFCC, we think big! We are constantly growing and developing and as a result, we do not want that momentum to stop. To ensure a steady and recurring income to the NGO and to increase its exposure, EFCC sets itself a new challenge: opening a solidarity coffee shop, Le Ritual Café!

And we are not the only ones working on it! We work hand in hand with MYCS, a German start-up as well as the NGO L’Ecole du Bois.

Le Ritual Café is a social and solidarity coffee shop. This activity will generate income which then, will be returned directly to the children of EFCC. We will indeed be able to welcome new students. We will propose to some of the children’s parents to undergo a vocational training in the food service area and then to work at Ritual Café so that they can earn a living in decent working conditions.

Le Ritual Café is also a responsible coffee shop! Le Ritual Café is indeed committed to boosting the local economy via short circuits. Consequently, we will contribute to the decrease of the carbon footprint produced by the Café. Plastic will be banned and we will take part in the local economy by choosing providers who have a strong environmental awareness. Through its partners, the targeted clientele and the communication in favour of the NGO and of the children, this Café is devoted to have a positive impact on the different actors involved.

Located in a strategic crossing point in Phnom Penh, this Café will make a difference compared to the others, thanks to its particularly warm atmosphere aiming at attracting a socially-engaged clientele as well as young Khmer people, especially students who want to mix pleasure and useful consumption. The decoration of the Café will be carefully designed and every items will be meticulously chosen.

It is in this way that EFCC is proud to announce its partnership with MYCS! This young German company gives the opportunity to its customers to create personalized and modular pieces of furniture online. MYCS wants to transform the furniture industry by giving to everyone the necessary tools to express his/her personality and his/her individuality. MYCS makes a generous donation which help us buy beautiful craft furniture made by L’Ecole du Bois. This carpentry school offers to underprivileged, young Cambodians a high-quality training allowing them to earn a decent living later on.
